Launch of the Week
Clerk, an authentication and user management platform, launched Core 3 with redesigned sign-in and checkout hooks, a visual theme editor, and an upgrade tool. Easier customization gives developers another reason to choose its components over Auth0 or WorkOS, although an SDK migration still needs testing.
Company Launch
OneScript, an embedded customer support platform, launched on March 4 with a chat widget that answers questions using a business’s own documentation. It offers teams considering Chatbase script-tag installation, persistent conversations, and a dashboard where staff can take over from the bot.
Enterprise Watch
Clerk, an authentication and user management platform, added JWT-format machine-to-machine tokens, enabling local verification without a network request. The tradeoff matters for enterprise buyers comparing it with Auth0: local verification will avoid the per-request fees starting March 16, but JWTs remain valid until expiry rather than supporting instant revocation.
Funding and Acquisitions
WorkOS, an enterprise authentication platform, raised a $100 million Series C at a $2 billion valuation, led by Meritech and Sapphire. Its pitch centers on helping fast-growing apps satisfy enterprise identity requirements early, a clear battleground with Auth0.
GTM Trends
Mux, a video API platform, added ACH payments for US bank accounts so customers can pay invoices from its billing dashboard. Procurement convenience will rarely win a launch headline, but it can remove a buying obstacle when teams compare video vendors such as Cloudinary.
More Devtool News
- ✨ Knock, a notification API, launched an AI agent function for workflows and broadcasts. It turns model output into structured workflow data for personalization and summaries, but token-based credits add a new cost to monitor. The messaging workflow competes with Courier and SuprSend.
- ✨ Clerk, an authentication and user management platform, improved its X social connection to retrieve email addresses during sign-in. Removing a manual email-entry step could reduce onboarding friction, though the benefit applies specifically to users choosing that provider. Clerk competes with Auth0 for social authentication.
