Launch of the Week

Paddle, a merchant of record and subscription billing provider, launched Paddle UI with twelve customizable React components for pricing, checkout and subscription management. Owning the component source gives teams evaluating Stripe more control over billing screens, but customized checkouts must retain required purchase disclosures.

Company Launch

HeadlessPDF, a PDF generation API, launched a hosted service that converts web pages into PDF documents. It gives developers adding document exports an alternative to PDFShift without running their own PDF rendering service.

Enterprise Watch

Clerk, an authentication and user management platform, made Directory Sync group mapping and custom attributes generally available, included with enterprise connections. Automated roles strengthen its case against WorkOS for business software, although synced attributes become read-only in Clerk while the identity provider controls them.

Funding and Acquisitions

Primer, a payment orchestration platform, announced a $100 million Series C led by Sofina to expand its AI capabilities and US business. The funding strengthens its push against Stripe, although autonomous payment optimization remains a development plan rather than a capability this round makes available.

GTM Trends

Polar, a merchant of record, introduced paid plans with lower transaction rates and announced higher Starter rates for new organizations from May 27. Published volume tiers make comparison with Paddle easier, but existing customers permanently give up their grandfathered plan when they upgrade.

More Devtool News

  • ✨ WorkOS, an enterprise authentication platform, added user-scoped API keys with organization-admin management and revocation. Individual credentials give teams finer control than shared organization keys, while adding per-user lifecycle work; compare Auth0.
  • ✨ WorkOS, an enterprise authentication platform, released a Rust SDK with typed asynchronous APIs, retries, pagination and authentication helpers. Native tooling reduces integration work for Rust teams, although adopting it still ties the backend to WorkOS APIs; Clerk is an identity alternative.
  • ✨ Knock, a notification API, added a Shopify data source that verifies incoming events and deduplicates retries. Default customer and order mappings reduce setup, but additional commerce flows still need workflow configuration; compare Courier.
