Coverage: August 3–9, 2026.
Launch of the Week
WorkOS, an enterprise authentication platform, introduced Relay to proxy third-party API requests and inject credentials using the relevant user or organization context, with access available through support. Centralizing credential handling could simplify agent integrations compared with building that layer around Descope, although teams must still define what each agent may access.
Company Launch
Maximum, a core banking infrastructure startup, emerged from stealth with a cloud platform combining ledgers, payments, compliance, and risk systems. Backed by a $30 million seed round, it is bringing its first bank customers aboard as it challenges providers such as Fiserv with infrastructure designed for real-time financial products.
Enterprise Watch
Clerk, an authentication and user management platform, added Google Workspace Directory Sync for users, groups and memberships, including role and custom-attribute mapping. Provisioning beyond sign-in events strengthens its enterprise offering against WorkOS, but setup requires a Google service account with domain-wide delegation.
Funding and Acquisitions
Convex, a backend-as-a-service platform, raised a $57 million Series B led by Insight Partners to expand its platform and team as it targets software built by developers and agents. The funding gives it more capacity to compete with Supabase, while customers still need to assess the tradeoff between Convex's integrated reactive model and a Postgres-based stack.
GTM Trends
WorkOS, an enterprise authentication platform, launched Agent Registration, using an auth.md file to help agents discover how to register and obtain scoped, short-lived credentials. Making software accessible to agent users opens a new onboarding channel alongside human signup, an emerging competitive surface for Auth0, with permissions remaining an application design decision.
More Devtool News
- ✨ Knock, a notification API, added Amplitude webhook integrations with verification, deduplication and default mappings for identity and cohort changes. Connecting analytics cohorts to messages could reduce integration work for teams comparing Customer.io, though useful campaigns still depend on well-defined events.
- ✨ WorkOS, an enterprise authentication platform, released a native iOS SDK with Swift async APIs and authentication helpers, including a public client that does not embed an API key. This extends its mobile developer reach against Clerk, while applications still need to manage their session and login experience.
- ✨ Clerk, an authentication and user management platform, added Client ID Metadata Documents, letting compatible OAuth clients identify themselves with an HTTPS URL rather than pre-issued credentials. Easier client onboarding offers another route to MCP adoption alongside Auth0, but operators should configure admission and scope policies before allowing unfamiliar clients.
