Launch of the Week
WorkOS, an enterprise authentication platform, launched Widget Skills so coding agents can generate user-management and SSO interfaces in a customer's own framework and design system. Owning the UI code gives teams more control than a fixed component, but also more maintenance responsibility when evaluating WorkOS against Clerk.
Company Launch
RealMarketAPI, a market-data API for financial applications, introduced its service on March 17 with live prices and technical indicators for developers. The early service offers a focused alternative to Finnhub for adding market data to dashboards and apps, while acknowledging limited symbol coverage.
Enterprise Watch
WorkOS, an enterprise authentication platform, introduced first-class support for multiple applications with shared users and separate credentials, redirects, and session policies. That could simplify a product's web-and-mobile expansion while preserving different session rules, an important comparison point with Auth0.
Funding and Acquisitions
SuperTokens, an open-source authentication platform, acquired the Rownd Authentication business line and announced plans to sunset its legacy platform on June 20. The transfer expands SuperTokens' customer base against Auth0, but affected teams need to plan migration to the hosted SuperTokens environment rather than assume their existing integration continues indefinitely.
GTM Trends
WorkOS, an enterprise authentication platform, released Agent Experience, including a Next.js trial flow that creates an unclaimed environment before the developer signs up. Moving registration after a working integration could improve conversion against alternatives such as Clerk, because developers can evaluate the product before completing an account workflow.
More Devtool News
- ✨ Knock, a notification API, added MJML support for email templates and layouts. The framework handles much of email's awkward responsive markup. Layouts and templates must both use MJML when combined, a migration detail for teams comparing it with Courier.
- ✨ Clerk, an authentication and user management platform, launched an organization activity report showing daily member engagement. Identity data becomes a quick view of whether customer teams are active. It covers data from January onward and does not replace feature-level analytics; the identity platform competes with WorkOS.
- ✨ Liveblocks, a provider of real-time collaboration APIs, introduced a Python SDK with synchronous and asynchronous clients for its backend APIs. Python services can manage rooms, storage, threads, and comments through a native package. Teams still need to build their application logic around those primitives when evaluating it against Ably.
