Launch of the Week

Sanity, a headless CMS, launched a native Vercel Marketplace integration with project provisioning, automatic environment configuration and consolidated billing. This could make it easier to win a project's first CMS decision against Contentful and Strapi, by reducing the work between choosing a service and querying content.

Company Launch

ChaChing, a subscription billing platform, launched with plans, proration and invoices while retaining Stripe for payment processing, placing second on Product Hunt on February 2. It offers another billing layer to compare with Stripe Billing and Chargebee, though webhooks and usage-based pricing were unfinished at launch.

Voygr, a place data API startup, introduced business validation and enrichment for applications that need current information about physical locations. Its focus on closures, rebrands and richer place records gives teams building local discovery an alternative to evaluate alongside Google Maps Platform and Mapbox.

Enterprise Watch

WorkOS, an enterprise authentication platform, launched an Authorization API for roles and permissions, including lifecycle events for organization-level changes. Programmatic administration could reduce manual setup as customers add tenants, strengthening its proposition against Auth0 for teams that need repeatable access configuration.

GTM Trends

Clerk, an authentication and user management platform, introduced new plans that raise the free allowance from 10,000 to 50,000 monthly retained users and include unlimited applications. The broader entry tier could improve acquisition against WorkOS, but customers with three or more enterprise connections or four or more dashboard seats need to examine the new charges.

More Devtool News

  • ✨ Mux, a video API platform, added support for HDR10 and HDR10+ uploads as non-standard inputs. Mux converts those assets to SDR BT.709 video. That could simplify ingest for apps accepting varied uploads, but it is not HDR playback support. Mux competes with Cloudinary.
  • ✨ Sanity, a headless CMS, launched resizable Media Library panels. Layout preferences persist across sessions and separately for standalone and Studio contexts. This could improve editors' day-to-day workflow, though it does not replace the team's asset organization work. Sanity competes with Contentful.
  • ✨ Convex, a backend-as-a-service platform, launched EU hosting in Ireland through its dashboard and Management API. The region is available on every plan, making regional deployment accessible to smaller teams. Paid resource pricing is 30% higher, US included usage does not carry over, and existing deployments require backup and restore to move. Convex competes with Supabase and Firebase.
