Coverage: April 6–12, 2026.
Launch of the Week
Knock, a notification API, launched data sources with five preconfigured integrations that verify incoming events and map them to messaging actions. Removing webhook plumbing from common integrations could strengthen Knock against messaging platforms such as Courier, although custom providers still require JavaScript configuration.
Company Launch
Whire, a payment API startup for AI agents, introduced a public sandbox for testing agent-drafted payments with human approval. It is entering the European bank-payment market served by providers such as TrueLayer, with simulated public testing and production access that the founder said was heavily limited.
Enterprise Watch
Clerk, an authentication and user management platform, added controls that prevent end users from changing sign-in identifiers, while preserving administrator updates through its dashboard and backend API. This could help organizations keep account identity under tighter control, but shifts legitimate change requests toward administrators—a tradeoff buyers comparing WorkOS should consider.
GTM Trends
Liveblocks, a provider of real-time collaboration APIs, released agent skills for Liveblocks and Yjs, packaging implementation guidance for coding assistants. Teaching the assistant at the moment of implementation could become a useful distribution channel alongside documentation when developers compare collaboration services such as Ably.
More Devtool News
- ✨ Knock, a notification API, added a function that triggers one workflow from another with a configured payload. Reusing customer-journey logic could reduce duplicated maintenance, but teams must track dependencies between workflows when making changes; Courier is an alternative.
- ✨ Clerk, an authentication and user management platform, added previews for custom session claims, letting developers inspect a selected user's resulting claims before saving a template. This moves a useful check ahead of production changes, although one user's preview cannot cover every organizational case; Auth0 competes in this category.
- ✨ Mux, a video API platform, began accepting AAC 5.1 as standard input, preserving original surround audio in master downloads. The staged rollout improves ingest compatibility, but HLS playback renditions remain stereo; Cloudinary is a competing media platform.
