Launch of the Week
Mux, a video API platform, launched Shots in beta to detect shot boundaries and generate a manifest with a preview image for each shot, including for existing assets. Giving AI workflows structured visual context could remove custom frame-extraction work against Cloudinary, though a sequence of previews still does not capture every detail of a video.
Company Launch
Ground, an embedded onchain finance API startup, emerged from stealth on June 24, announcing $3.6 million in pre-seed funding and beginning client onboarding. Its modular API lets financial apps add yield strategies inside their existing interfaces, giving teams considering Kiln another provider to assess against their liquidity, reporting, and risk requirements.
Enterprise Watch
Clerk, an authentication and user management platform, introduced self-serve SSO, letting customer IT administrators verify domains, configure SAML, test sign-in, and activate connections inside its Organization Profile component. Delegating setup could remove an enterprise onboarding bottleneck when competing with WorkOS, but the launch requires Clerk Organizations and supports SAML providers only.
GTM Trends
WorkOS, an enterprise authentication platform, introduced AuthKit waitlists to collect signup requests and let teams approve access before registration, with access to the feature available by contacting WorkOS. Building gated launches into authentication could simplify beta recruitment against Clerk, though invited users and qualifying verified-domain provisioning bypass the queue.
More Devtool News
- ✨ Clerk, an authentication and user management platform, added an OAuth consent component for application-owned domains. Teams can keep consent inside their product while retaining Clerk's scope display and allow-or-deny behavior. Customization must preserve those choices, a relevant tradeoff against Auth0.
- ✨ Sanity, a headless CMS, released Studio 6.2 with search across reference fields used in document previews and a command to install agent skills in existing projects. Editors can find documents through related content, while developers can add guidance without reinitializing a project. The search improvement applies to configured preview fields rather than arbitrary relationship traversal; compare Strapi.
- ✨ Mux, a video API platform, deprecated global metric values in Mux Data. The dashboard and documentation no longer expose those global comparisons. Existing API integrations can still receive the deprecated field, but it may be stale and should not anchor current benchmarks; alternatives include Cloudinary.
